Michigan Notary Acknowledgement Forms
Michigan notary acknowledgement forms are certificates that authenticate the signatures inscribed within a legal instrument, such as a trust agreement, deed, power of attorney, or similar document. An acknowledgement is a duty carried out by a notary public wherein the parties involved in signing a document appear before the notary and acknowledge that they have signed the document as their own free act and deed. Part of the notary’s duty is to properly identify each signer, either by a piece of identification or through personal knowledge. There are eight (8) Michigan notary acknowledgement certificates, each one acknowledging a signatory in a different capacity (i.e., corporation, trustee, representative, etc.). A document is officially notarized once the notary public inscribes their signature and affixes their stamp to the acknowledgement form.
