Maryland Notary Acknowledgement Forms

The Maryland notary acknowledgement forms are notarial certificates used by notaries public that prove an acknowledgement or an oath/affirmation was taken. Each certificate serves a different purpose based on the type of document, the individuals signing said document, and the duties required of the notary. It is the responsibility of the signing parties to attach an acknowledgement form to the document requiring notarization. Acknowledgements involve the signing parties stating that they executed the document under their own free will, whereas oaths or affirmations attest to the truthfulness of the documents’ contents. Furthermore, documents that require an acknowledgement can actually be signed before presenting the document and certificate to the notary public. Oaths/affirmations must be signed in the presence of the notary public.
