The South Dakota Individual Notary Acknowledgement form is designated for signatories who are signing an unnotarized document themselves as opposed to using a representative to sign on their behalf. The principal will be required to present to the notary public the document requiring notarization as well as the notary acknowledgement form to enable the officer to recognize that the signature which furnishes the original document was provided under the signatory’s own free will. The notary will also need to confirm that the signature indeed belongs to the signatory before providing their title, the date of execution, and their official seal to complete the acknowledgement process.
