Idaho Notarial Certificate – Jurat

The Idaho jurat is a certificate proving that an individual appeared before a notary public, signed a document under the notary’s supervision, and swore to (or affirmed) the truthfulness of the signed instrument. In legal circumstances where an “affidavit” is required (a document containing official statements usable as evidence in court), a jurat will be necessary to confirm the validity of the statements. A notary public can perform the notarial act by identifying the person making the statements, administering the oath or affirmation, and witnessing the signature of the individual. After the notary’s duties are fulfilled, they will notarize the affidavit by completing the jurat.
