Iowa Notarial Certificate – Witnessing/Attesting a Signature

An Iowa notarial certificate for witnessing a signature requires all individuals involved in executing a particular document must sign it in the notary’s presence. The notary may still require that each individual present proof of identity. Technically, an attestation can be performed by individuals who are not state-commissioned officers as long as the witness is a third-party not associated with the original document.
