Georgia Notarial Acknowledgement Certificate – Jurat

The Georgia jurat is a certificate declaring that someone made an oath or affirmation acknowledging the truthfulness of statements in an affidavit. When an individual wishes to complete an affidavit, they must visit a notary public and present the notary with the jurat along with the unsigned affidavit. The notary will then confirm the identity of the individual, administer the verbal oath or affirmation, and have the individual sign the affidavit under their supervision. With the notarial duties performed, the notary will be authorized to execute the jurat certificate thus confirming the statements in the affidavit.
