Documents requiring notarization that have been signed by a trustee should have a Michigan trustee notary acknowledgement certificate attached thereto. This certificate, when signed by a notary public, notarizes the instrument. To obtain this type of notarization, the trustee must bring the document (already signed) to a notary public and identify themselves as the signer. Next, the trustee must make a verbal statement claiming they signed the document under their own free will. The notary public’s duty is concluded once they complete and sign the notary acknowledgement form.
