A Wisconsin Individual Notary Acknowledgement is a notarial act which validates a signature made by an individual on a legal document. As opposed to a jurat, or verification of oath or affirmation, the legal document needn’t be executed in the presence of the notarial officer in order for the acknowledgement to take place. However, a declaration of the authenticity of the signature will have to be made in front of a notary as this will enable the officer to complete the notarial certificate.
