North Carolina Notarial Certificate – Affidavit

The North Carolina notarial certificate – affidavit is used by a notary public to certify an individual’s signed statement, signature, and identity. An affidavit is a verified statement and is most often required by courts in conjunction with a case or request. The notary public will need to administer an oath or affirmation to the signer, who must attest to the affidavit’s truthfulness. Both the individual (the Principal) and the notary public must sign the notarial certificate. Furthermore, the notary must verify the signer’s identity by examining a piece of photo identification or through prior knowledge of them.
