The Delaware notary acknowledgement for an individual is a certificate verifying the legitimacy of a signature. A notary public will act as a third-party witness to the statement of “acknowledgement” made by the signatory (a declaration that the signature is theirs and that it was given for the purposes specified in the document). In addition to witnessing the acknowledgement statement, the notary shall identify the signer to ensure they are indeed the individual whose signature is contained in the signed document.
