California Notary Acknowledgement – Individual

The California notary acknowledgement for an individual is a certificate completed by a notary public that validates the signature of a document signer. The certificate may be used for one (1) or more individuals acting in their own capacity or on the behalf of an entity they represent. Upon the personal appearance of the signer(s) before the notary public, the notary must determine their identitiy(ies) either by review of a valid form of identification, by the oath made by a single credible witness who is personally known to the notary, or by the oaths made by two (2) credible witnesses who are not known to the notary After the individuals have been identified, the notary will ask them to acknowledge the provided signatures. Lastly, the notary will complete the process by executing the acknowledgement certificate.
