A Vermont Notary Acknowledgement form is used to validate the signature on a legal document executed in the state of Vermont. The document requiring notarization and the individual who completed it must be presented before a notary public. The notary will identify the signatory by prior knowledge or photo identification. They will then ask the individual to acknowledge their signature, that is, indicate that they signed for the purposes stated in the document and by their own free will. With this information in place, the officer can complete the general acknowledgement form with the date, the name of the individual, and their signature. In the state of Vermont, it is not legally required that the notary furnish the document with their official seal.
